Laguna Agate comes from Chihuahua, Mexico, and has been collected for generations for its exceptionally fine banding and huge range of colors and patterns. It formed as silica-rich fluids repeatedly filled cavities in volcanic rock. Each new deposit added another microscopic layer of chalcedony, slowly building the bands you see in the finished stone. Changes in minerals and chemistry along the way are responsible for the different colors.
