Ed Lohman Persian Turquoise Pendant

Persian turquoise has been treasured for centuries for its clear blue color and long history in jewelry and decorative arts. Mined in Iran, historically known as Persia, it forms when copper-rich groundwater moves through fractures in rock and, over time, reacts with aluminum and phosphorus-bearing minerals to create turquoise.

This piece features a substantial Persian turquoise stone with a beautiful blue color and a bold natural brown matrix. That matrix is part of the original host rock, giving a glimpse into the geology where the turquoise formed and making every stone completely individual.

Created by Ed Lohman, the stone is set in 925 sterling silver with additional turquoise inlay incorporated into the bail and surrounding details. The silverwork frames the stone while leaving its natural color and matrix as the focus.
