Crazy Lace Agate “Happy Lace” Pendant in Sterling Silver

Crazy Lace Agate has picked up a couple of great nicknames over the years “Happy Lace” and the “Laughter Stone.” Once you look closely at the patterns, you can see where the lace part comes from. This piece has layer after layer of cream, yellow, rust, soft pink, and lavender, with little pockets of tight banding and patterns running in completely different directions across the stone.
Crazy Lace Agate comes primarily from Chihuahua, Mexico, and formed through repeated deposits of silica in cavities and fractures in volcanic rock. Those layers of chalcedony built up over time, with iron and other minerals contributing many of the reds, yellows, and browns. The result is the complicated looping and swirling pattern that makes Crazy Lace so recognizable.
The “Happy Lace” name also comes from the metaphysical side of Crazy Lace Agate. It has traditionally been associated with joy, laughter, emotional balance, and protection. Whether you follow the metaphysical meanings or simply collect agates, the geology and pattern in this one give you plenty to look at.
One important note about this pendant: there is a very small hairline fracture near the upper left side of the stone, which can be seen in the photos. It does not appear to affect the stability of the stone, but we always want to be transparent about anything we notice. Because of that imperfection, we've heavily discounted this piece.
