Crazy Lace Agate Statement Pendant in Sterling Silver – Natural Mexican Agate
This is Crazy Lace Agate doing what Crazy Lace does best, going in about twelve different directions at once. The amount of detail in this stone is incredible. There are tight bands of cream, rust, gray, olive green and brown wrapping around one another, with larger natural inclusions breaking up the pattern through the center. Every time you look at it, you notice another layer.
Crazy Lace Agate comes from Chihuahua, Mexico, and is famous for these complicated bands and looping patterns. It formed as silica-rich fluids repeatedly filled spaces in volcanic rock, depositing thin layers of chalcedony over time. Changes in iron and other minerals during formation created the different colors, while repeated periods of deposition produced all of those incredibly fine lines.
Crazy Lace is also commonly called “Happy Lace” or the “Laughter Stone.” In metaphysical traditions, it’s associated with happiness, optimism, emotional balance and protection. We mostly love it because, geologically, there just isn't much else that looks like it.
This is a particularly large cabochon, so there’s a lot of natural pattern on display. The simple .925 sterling silver bezel was a good choice for it, there really wasn't any reason to compete with everything already happening inside the stone.
