Crazy Lace (also called Happy Lace)is one of my favorites. This agate from Chihuahua, Mexico, is a variety of chalcedony with wild bands, loops, eyes, scallops, and patterns that can resemble tiny landscapes. It occurs in Cretaceous limestone, and the twisting red, yellow, orange, brown, gray, and white bands are basically geological chaos frozen in quartz. Then there's the metaphysical side. Crazy Lace has picked up the nickname “Laughter Stone” and is associated with happiness, calm, and absorbing negative energy.  Do I like the idea of a rock absorbing all the crazy emotional nuttiness so I don't have to? Absolutely. I could use that.

Laguna Agate comes from the Ojo Laguna area of Chihuahua, Mexico, where it formed in cavities within volcanic rock roughly 38 million years ago. Silica-rich fluids repeatedly moved through those cavities, depositing layer after microscopic layer of chalcedony and creating the ridiculously tight fortification banding Laguna is famous for. Every time we cut one open, we're basically looking at a 38-million-year-old record of fluids moving through volcanic rock.
