Mookaite Can Moo, Can You?
One Locality. Millions of Years Old. Mookaite is scientifically referred to as Mookaite Jasper, a silicified porcellanite known to sometimes be fossiliferous. This mineral can only be found in the Windalia Radiolarite, a Western Australian formation believed to have originated during the Cretaceous Period (145-66 million years ago). This stunning multi coloured stone is found in the Kennedy Ranges near Gascoyne Junction which is about 100 miles inland from the coastal town of Carnarvon in Western Australia, which in turn is about 600 miles north of the capital, Perth. The name mookaite is derived from the locality where the rock is dug, the Mooka Creek. According to locals, the Aboriginal word "mooka" means running waters, in reference to the fresh water springs that feed Mooka. Mookaite promotes emotional balance and encourages a sense of harmony in stressful times. It facilitates decision-making processes in challenging times and helps one adapt to changing circumstances.
